Amanda Pretlow- Drum Circle
I wanted to share a little bit of my experience at the drum circle in one of these blogs. When I got there, I was certainly not in the mood for a drum circle. It had not been a good day, I was not feeling very well, and it was freezing outside. I had really come into the experience with a bad attitude. But all of that seemed to change when we entered the circle. I just started to feel peaceful. The initial silence when we entered the circle allowed me to clear my mind of all of the events of the day. When we all started playing our instruments, I enjoyed the chaos. You initially couldn't really tell when all of the different sounds were coming from. I kind of got lost in all of the sound and the scenery. I think what really made the experience for me was being able to watch the sunset as we drummed. When the tone blocks were added, it was like I could feel the waves of energy as each person hit their block. The tone blocks created a sort of unity or cooperation between all of us. It really solidified the experience for me. The music, the beats, the grass and the sunset all seemed to be in harmony for the circle. I came into the circle feeling silly about it but let with a new perspective.
