Daoist Art
This is a piece of Daoist art work. When you take a quick glance at it all you see are a bunch of random lines. If you keep looking, I am sure you would be able to see patterns start to form, but that is not the purpose of this piece of art. Rather the purpose is for it to be a bunch of random lines which represent Wu-Wei or “effortless action.” It does this in the sense that the lines are simply following the effortless rhythm of the Dao. In fact it is odd that the Daoist choose to subscribe to any form of art given that they scoff at most things of human creation. But prehapes they use art in this way because of the understanding that the true essence of the Dao can not be represented in words. Maybe they hope to represent it in an image of sorts. Though that is just one idea. After all it could be that some just felt like drawing random lines.
