In Prague I got to do a lot of exploring and one of the most interesting pieces of art was the Astronomical Clock in Olde Town Square. The clock was built ages ago by a man with the task to build the most beautiful clock in the world. The clock is intricately designed and on each hour the skeleton to the right corner of the clock will ding a small bell th the apostles will come to the windows that are opened above the clock itself.
After the clock was completed the authorities at the time blinded the an so the clock would never be replicated. The tragic story reminds me of why art so often is seen as sacred. Each piece is designed intricately and specially for the purpose of being a beautiful entity and it can never exactly be repeated. I think in the case of this clock the artist could not have redesigned it even if he wanted to.
This piece of artwork just like so many hahve a connection to the artist and a special story to tell. Each artist has a connection through the sporotual life. This one piece has a spiritual aspect bu spwiong the apostles at the chiming of each hour. This shows the people who lived their life in the manner of serving and glorifying the Lord. If each artist makes a peace in the form of prayer or worship, each piece would give a special signicicance to the piece and create a connection with that which is divine, triune, Holy, and worthy of praise in the form of artwork.
