One of my friend's is currently reading a book called "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins. This book is written by an avid non-believer in God how the written word of God is wrong and everything associated with there being a God is wrong. I've read reviews on this book and it has provoked many critics to both hate this book and love it. I read one part of the book and he brings up the topic of Jesus' birth story. Dawkins claims that every aspect of Jesus' birth story was borrowed from other religions in the meditteranean and in the near east. The aspects of Jesus' birth he mentions are the star of the East, the virgin birth, the miracles, the veneration of the baby by the Kings, the execution, the ressurrection, and the ascension.
I don't know much history about the Bible, let alone have I ever read it. But this man, Richard Dawkins, has sparked my interest in the topic of whether God is real or not. I've stated before that I do not necessarily believe in a "God", however, do believe that there is something out there that is more powerful that we are as humans. I just do not know what it is. This topic is very interesting to me, and I most likely will continue to read this book and pick out passages within it. Hopefully it will bring about some answers that people have had for a very long time.
